A short history of "Russian Imperial Stout"
In the 18th century, Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, ordered a stout to be sent to her from England. This beer was brewed strong and hoppy to survive the sea voyage, and it arrived in perfect condition. Soon "Russian Imperial Stout" became the toast of the Russian aristocracy.
Brooklyn Brewing has been brewing their version of the Russian Imperial Stout 1994. Its dark chocolate aroma and flavor comes from the blending of six malts and three distinct mashes. Because of it's 10% ABV, it will improve in the bottle for many years as long as it's properly cellared.
This beer comes out once a year for a very short time. Stop in and take enough home to drink immediately and also cellar for a few years
